Hogwarts Legacy, Avalanche Software’s open-world, action RPG set in the ‘Wizarding World’, best known for housing the Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts franchises, will be the star of a new PlayStation State of Play on Friday 8am AEDT.
Information from the PlayStation Blog post reveals we’ll see ‘over 14 minutes of Hogwarts Legacy gameplay captured on PS5, and … some insight from a few members of the team at Avalanche Software who are bringing the Wizarding World to life.’
The Hogwarts Legacy-centric State of Play arrives at a time when public opinion of Harry Potter‘s creator, JK Rowling, is at an all time low. Years of transphobic comments and untoward behaviour online have been resurfaced last week after she fought against calls to reform the UK’s gender recognition law to allow trans women to be represented as women, claiming UK Labour Party Leader Kier Starmer ‘mispresented the law’ and warned that the Labour Party ‘could no longer be counted on to defend women’s rights.’
While JK Rowling has had no input on Hogwarts Legacy, the game’s image has unavoidably been affected by the Harry Potter author’s words and beliefs.
Hogwarts Legacy is set to release on PS4/PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One and PC sometime in 2022.
