The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD Announced with New Joy-Cons, Coming July 16

Working their way down the list

Announced in Thursday morning’s Nintendo Direct, 2011’s Wii title, The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword is getting an HD remaster. And don’t worry! They’ve figured out the motion controls… hopefully.

Using the Joy-Cons as the much-improved Wii Remote and Nunchuk Accessory, you’ll be able to get Link to swing his Master Sword, use his shield, and draw his bow with ease as the Switch’s technology trumps the previous generation’s hardware. For those of us with a Switch Lite or those of us who just don’t want to have to deal with motion controls (both are me), they’ve mapped the Master Sword’s swing to the right joystick. You know, down is down, left is left, usual sword-swinging action.

Along with the HD remaster, Nintendo is bringing out some new Joy-Cons to celebrate the franchise’s 35th-anniversary sporting designs inspired by the Master Sword and Hylian Shield.

The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD and the themed Joy-Cons release July 16th, 2021.
