Poor Rex…

Announced in this morning’s Nintendo Direct, much to Rex’s dismay, the two-in-one fighter, Pyra and Mythra from Xenoblade Chronicles 2 will be joining the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate roster in March.

Pyra is the fourth fighter in this Fighters Pass Vol. 2 after Sephiroth from Final Fantasy VII, Steve from Minecraft, and MinMin from Arms, leaving two more spots open for future fighters.

In the short teaser trailer, we see a quick show of her abilities in which the sword fighter can switch between Pyra and Mythra on the fly for a slight change in her abilities. The addition of Pyra also brings a new stage, where fighters are riding on the back of Gramps (real name Azurda), a Titan that Rex lives upon.

As usual, a full show of her abilities will come soon from Super Smash Bros. creator Masahiro Sakurai, but all we can see from the rest of the trailer is the usual bonus of a game-related soundtrack and Rex as a Mii Fighter costume.
