Nintendo To Show What Is In Store For The First Half Of 2021 In Upcoming Direct

Via Twitter, Nintendo has announced a 50-minute Nintendo Direct that will focus “on available games like Super #SmashBrosUltimate and games coming to #NintendoSwitch in the first half of 2021”. The presentation will take place this Thursday, February 18th at 9AM (AEST) and will be the first proper Nintendo Direct since September 2019 where they announced SNES games and Overwatch coming to Switch.

With the 35th anniversary of The Legend of Zelda and the 25th anniversary of the Pokémon franchise happening next week, fans are optimistic that Nintendo is about to drop further details on a Breath Of the Wild sequel, or an announcement regarding remakes of the fourth generation Pokémon games.

However, as we have been burned by over-hyped Nintendo announcements in the past (I still don’t forgive them for making me stay up past 11 pm for Pokémon Unite!), it may be best to temper those expectations. I don’t see either a new Pokémon or Zelda game releasing the first half of this year, and if that is Nintendo’s focus, we may get a tease at best.

That being said, I am happy to be proven wrong, Nintendo!

As always, we will provide updates as they come to hand.
