PlayStation and Guerrilla Games have ‘retired’ the official Killzone website, with the Killzone.com landing page now directing visitors to the PlayStation.com homepage. Guerrilla Games, however, does confirm that support for the actual games will continue and that no online multiplayer modes will be negatively affected.
A post on the site clarifies what the change means for the franchise. “Going forward, visitors to Killzone.com will be directed to PlayStation.com” the site reads.
“While this change doesn’t affect the online multiplayer modes, player statistics or ranking data for KILLZONE MERCENARY and KILLZONE SHADOW FALL, it is now no longer possible to create or manage clans in KILLZONE SHADOW FALL. We apologize for this inconvenience. Thank you to Killzone.com’s many fans and visitors throughout the years for their enthusiasm and support”.
While the site changes don’t necessarily mean that Killzone franchise is dead, it has been over seven years since Killzone: Shadow Fall released on PlayStation 4, and with Guerrilla Games focusing on the Horizon series, I probably wouldn’t be holding my breath for a sequel any time soon.
