Kirby Fighters 2 Announced and Shadow Dropped by Nintendo

Kirby vs. Kirby vs. Kirby vs. Kirby vs…

A few hours after Nintendo seemingly leaked and took down their unlisted sequel for the 3DS title, Kirby Fighters, they’ve given us a launch trailer for Kirby Fighters 2 AND shadow dropped the game for Nintendo Switch all in one!

Kirby Fighters 2 is an up-to four-player battle-royale where you must deplete your enemies health to zero to come out on top. There are 17 Copy Abilities you can master to take down your opponents, including the brand new ‘wrestler’ ability,

Five familiar faces can also join the battles, with Bandana Waddle Dee, Gooey, Magolor, Meta Knight, and King Dedede coming along for the ride.

The different modes included in Kirby Fighters 2 are Battle Mode, where you can play solo against computers, team play with up to four players on one Nintendo Switch system, a local mode for groups of four with their own Nintendo Switch system, and an online mode to play against foes near and far. You can choose from 20 different stages to play in, including some brand new, and some familiar courses from previous Kirby games.

Kirby Fighters 2 also includes a Story Mode (good name) where your character and a buddy team up to take on Meta Knight and King Dedede at the top of the tower. On each level of the tower, master your Copy Ability of choice against a different type of opponent, then if you complete the floor, you can pick an item to boost your strength!

Lastly, there’s a Single-Handed Mode, where you take on nine enemies single-handedly, with your foe getting stronger each time you win.

When you complete battles in the Mode of your choosing, you will earn Fighters Points which are used to earn customisable content for your Kirby, including hats and outfits. Yes, I said hats!

Kirby Fighter 2 is available now on Nintendo Switch via the Nintendo eShop.
