ICYMI: Horizon Forbidden West is Releasing on PlayStation 4 As Well

So, you don’t need to make the leap to the PlayStation 5 as quickly as you thought!

After last week’s PlayStation 5 Showcase Event, Sony came out and made some announcements behind the scenes that, for some, went unnoticed unless you read through a majority of their blog posts.

Since it had been announced that Spider-Man: Miles Morales is being released on PlayStation 4 as well as being a PlayStation 5 launch title, more news has come out about upcoming games. As stated on their blog, Horizon Forbidden West and Sackboy A Big Adventure are also going to be available for people to play on their current-gen PlayStation 4 consoles.

Sony has said that they want to give these gaming experiences to those who aren’t ready to upgrade to the new generation of gaming just yet.

While these three games were designed to take advantage of PS5 and its unique next-gen features like the ultra-high-speed SSD and DualSense controller, PS4 owners will also be able to enjoy these experiences when they launch. The PS4 digital versions of launch games include a free upgrade on both PS5 consoles, while the PS4 disc versions of these games include a free upgrade on the PS5 with Ultra HD Blu-Ray disc drive.

Jim Ryan – President & CEO, Sony Interactive Entertainment

As stated in this quote, if you purchase the digital PlayStation 4 version of these titles, you’re able to upgrade it to a PlayStation 5 version for free when you’re ready, however, if you get a physical disc copy of these games, you can also get a free upgrade, but only for the standard edition console.
