In the latest trailer for Resident Evil Village, Capcom has given us a further look into the little gothic hamlet Ethan Winters now calls home and the forests that surround it. The narration goes between a wizened old woman giving warning that ‘they are coming again’ and Ethan’s wife, Mia, reciting a fairytale about mysteries lurking in the deep dark of the woods. Great, I’m sure this all ends well.
We also get a better look at some of the enemies we will be taking down (or running away from), including more werewolves, armed villagers and a hulking, club-wielding giant, that I am sure doesn’t want to be friends. We also get a glimpse at a new shopkeep, who I can only assume is the fancy cousin of Resident Evil 4‘s ‘What-Ya-Buyin’-merchant.
Resident Evil Village will be a major departure for the series, with more of a focus on “hallucinations, Occultism, insanity”, according to reports made earlier this year, which “many purists are going to hate”. I am very interested to see what these changes will be, as following this latest trailer, I am 100% sold.
Resident Evil Village comes to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and PC in 2021.
