Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit Brings Kart Racing to Your Living Room… Literally

I understand I am not the same age as the children in the trailer, but age limits be damned!

Well, here’s something I never thought would be real.

Announced this morning during the 35th Anniversary Super Mario Direct was Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit and it is EXACTLY as it sounds; make Mario Kart tracks in your OWN home using REAL LIFE Mario Kart karts! I know, I know, there have been remote-controlled Mario Kart toys before but… just wow.

Using real RC cars and a handy little thing called Augmented Reality, you can build courses throughout your house, controlled through your Nintendo Switch. The RC cars have cameras attached that relays its feed to your Nintendo Switch console, letting your control the car, maneuver obstacles and run your AR Koopaling foes off the track using the usual Mario Kart methods.

There’s even a second, and greener car you can get for the Luigi in your life.

The game includes course markers so you can plot the course around the structure of your living room.

Velan Studios has partnered with Nintendo to design and power a magical new Mario Kart experience, Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit, on the Nintendo Switch system. Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit is a mixed reality (MR) game that combines a camera-enabled physical kart and course gate markers to turn any living space into the next great Mario Kart circuit.

With Mario Kart Live: Home Circuit, players design and construct courses in the real world, and race the circuit in a mixed reality experience that blends the digital game world with the real world in an immersive way on the Nintendo Switch system.
