PlayStation and Switch Players Won’t Need an Online Subscription for Free-To-Play Rocket League, but Xbox Players Will
What’s the meaning of all this?!
As Rocket League creeps closer and closer to going free-to-play, developer Psyonix has been letting loose some details about how the new play-style is going to work. Outlined in their update news, Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 players won’t need to have a Nintendo Online or PlayStation Plus online subscription to play, however, Xbox players will still need an Xbox Live subscription.
The free-to-play game-style – just like Fortnite and League of Legends – will be coming to Rocket League sometime during September, but Psyonix can’t state an exact date yet. In this same update comes some new features including new competitive ranks, a new player experience (a tutorial for brand new players), and more streamlines seasons.
