New Name For Ubisoft’s Gods and Monsters Leaks Online

A Game By Any Other Name….

Sometimes a game’s title is so perfect, so simple yet evocative, that you are left in awe that no game has been called that before. That’s what Ubisoft had with Gods & Monsters. Now I stress the word ‘had’, because, if a new rating from the Taiwan Digital Game Rating Committee is to be believed, the game will be released under the name Immortals: Fenyx Rising

Gods & Monsters sounded way cooler.

A name change has been on the cards for some time following the game leaking on Stadia (I’m shocked, too) earlier this year. Ubisoft referred to it as “the game formerly known as Gods & Monsters” in a statement to Kotaku where they stressed that the leaked gameplay was from an early cut of the game and that the new name would be revealed towards the “end of summer”. The official name reveal, and hopefully, more gameplay details could be shown at the Ubisoft Forward event rumoured to be happening later this month.

Immortals: Fenyx Rising is an open-world adventure game, in a similar style to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, from the creators of Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, focusing on Greek mythology. Players will lead the (now) titular hero, Fenyx, on a quest to protect the gods from Typhon, a hundred-headed beast considered one of the deadliest monsters in Greek mythology.

Despite the slightly lame new name and multiple release delays, I am still really eager to embark on this adventure. Immortals: Fenyx Rising is currently in the “polish period” of development and set for release on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and Google Stadia.
