What is This, Some Kinda Suicide Squad…Teaser?
After being silent for years since the last Arkham game, Rocksteady has announced they’re stepping back into the DC universe with an in-depth look at its upcoming next-gen title, Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League, and it looks fucking wild!
The title of the game sums up the premise pretty well, with the titular Squad (also known as Task Force X) given the impossible task of taking down the members of the Justice League who, judging by the trailer above, are being controlled by Brainiac. This time the Squad will consist of Harley Quinn, Deadshot, Captain Boomerang and my new idol and hero, King Shark. Players will cause havoc throughout Metropolis solo or teaming up with their own squad with online multiplayer in what Rocksteady Studios’ Sefton Hill calls a “love letter from us to DC fans,”
Somewhat surprisingly, given that the game was revealed the same day as Gotham Knights, Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League will be the official continuation of the Arkham-verse, so expect to see a few familiar faces and plot threads explored.
If Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League can deliver on its promise of Avengers-style co-op and zany action in the vein of Sunset Overdrive, I think the Squad will make quite the impression when it launches in 2022 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and PC.
