When I saw ‘Cold War’ trending on Twitter this morning, my first thought was ‘Oh 2020, you’re just full of tricks aren’t you!’, but it turns out it was due to Activision finally confirming the next entry into the Call of Duty franchise, Call of Duty: Black Ops: Cold War.
The reveal isn’t exactly a massive revelation given the hints dropped throughout Call of Duty: Warzone (and on Doritos packets), but it’s quite intriguing to see the new game ‘inspired by actual events’. The teaser focuses on Yuri Bezmenov, a KGB defector who warned of the disinformation tactics used by the Soviet Union and Perseus, a spy Bezmenov claims has infiltrated Western intelligence.
A full reveal for Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War will be dropping on August 26th, but in the meantime, check out the terrifyingly timely ‘Know Your History’ teaser below
